A Bit about Om Nom:

I have often heard the quotation that

“A person will be just about as happy as the make up their minds to be.”

Fortunately, I believe that principle applies to more than just happiness. I believe that life can be just about as elegant, amusing, luxurious, exciting, or whatever else as you decide for it to be.

Basically, life is what you make it. But what does that have to do with the concept of Om Nom? And first things first, what is Om Nom?

Think back right now to something that you’ve eaten that just the thought of makes your mouth start to water and automatically brings a smile to your face. When you ate whatever it is that you are imagining right now, when you were enjoying every single bite, when you were done and wished you had just a little bit more, that, my friends, is what Om Nom is all about!

Technically, Om Nom is the sound that is made when good food is being thoroughly enjoyed. It’s the sound of satisfaction.

Non-technically, Om Nom is the good life.

And that’s what that quotation about happiness has to do with Om Nom. The good life, the Om Nom life, is a state of mind that we can enjoy whenever we choose to!

It’s time to start Nomming!

A Bit about Me:

My name is Kacey. My middle name is Joan.

Kacey Torres

I am now in my thirties and, thus, older than I would really like to be, but at the same time, being this age is way better than I ever imagined it would be.

I am married to Mr. Torres. He and I are weird in many of the same ways, so it’s good that we get to spend the rest of our lives together.

I used to teach science to middle school and high school students in Oklahoma and then in Texas. They didn’t always care about learning science, but we had fun anyway.

Now I stay at home with a little boy named Ellis. He is forever and always my favorite.

Kacey, Eric told me about your blog. As a fellow cook, I found it to be AWESOME! I may just give up my dream of having my own cookbook with pictures…..you already have way better food and recipe ideas than me! I’ve shared your site with my other fellow-cooker, my sister-in-law.

You are also a great writer. I enjoyed all your philosophizing, humor and good old-fashioned values!
Eric is a very lucky man, to say the least!

Deana, you’re too kind! I hope you don’t give up your dreams of making a cookbook…just save it for retirement:) Eric may be lucky, not any more so than I am! However, he’s a rascal, so keep him in line for me!

Hi Kacey! I am one of Eric’s “podmates” and he just gave us the link to your blog today. Since I’m off this afternoon, I decided to check it out. I don’t cook, but have enjoyed reading your recipes and comments! Keep up the good work, enjoy your summer and you can send food to work with Eric any time!!

Thanks so much for checking out the blog! I’m so glad that all of Eric’s podmates are receptive to my cooking…there’s no way the two of us need to eat all the things that I make!

Hey Kacey! I couldn’t find an email address to message you, so I apologize for posting on your wall. I wanted to let you know that I am making my blog invite only for the time being to protect myself against my curious and tech-savvy middle school students. Of course I would love for you to keep reading, so if you send me an email address (to joyce.margaret@gmail.com), I will add you to the list of permitted viewers.

    Hope all is well!

Om Nom is such a cute name! Haha. I think it’s very great and healthy that you and your husband can be “weird” together. That’s too bad about the high school students not caring about the environment but so not surprising. Haha. Some of them will get it right now and some might later when they realize they are destroying the earth.

Thanks for checking out my blog.
