The next picture shows some of the caves that hermits used to live in before the monasteries were built.

They were all over the rocks and some of them were impressively high.

Meteora literally means suspended in the air (think meteorite) and is a complex of six monasteries built on natural rock pillars. 

The monasteries used to be accessible only from nets lowered to the ground or by a series of ladders connected together.

Fortunately for us, there are now roads that lead to the top:)

These pictures are all kind of annoying because they fail to capture the crazy amount of beauty that we experienced while visiting here. 

I don’t have words to describe how truly awe-inspiring it was. 

God’s creation is…how do you even finish that statement?!

Amazing?

Awesome?

Beautiful?

None of them do it justice.

God’s creation is just too good.
