Travels in Europe: The Garden of Eden (aka Santorini)

I know it’s been ages since our trip.

I did a pretty good job getting posts out on Athens, Thermopylae, and Meteora, but the post for the last portion of our trip just seemed too overwhelming!

I mean, Santorini was, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful places that we have ever been to.

I’m thinking maybe the name Santorini is how you say Garden of Eden in Greek:)

Actually, we almost didn’t go here because it’s “the island to visit” when you’re in Greece.

I thought it would be totally spoiled by tourists like Cinque Terre in Italy was.

And, you know what, it might be in the summer months, but in March, there were many times that it felt like the island was ours<3

So after spending time on the mainland, we took a 5am puddle jumper over to Santorini to spend three days in paradise.

Some of the highlights of our time here include hiking, exploring and enjoying all the beautiful views…

Renting a four-wheeler and driving around to all the different colored beaches…

Did I already tell you about these friends?! Absolutely amazing couple from South Africa that we loved spending time with!

Taking a boat to visit the volcano that formed the island…

Delicious seafood and, my personal favorite from our time in Greece, tomato balls…

After ten fantastic days in Greece, we headed back home.

And instead of dreaming about where we would travel to next, we couldn’t help but talk about when we would come back to this beautiful place<3

A special shout out to Mr. Torres for all the beautiful pictures in this post…such a photographer’s eye;)
